Find out who handles the payment
The app on your phone does not always tell you where to manage its subscription. You might have signed up through an app store or directly on a website. Start with the receipt, purchase email or payment history to identify the provider and account.
If you cannot see the subscription, check which account is open. Do not buy it again just to reach the settings: an empty list in one account does not prove that no subscription exists. Make a short inventory of the service, amount, billing interval and place where you manage it.
Check the renewal date and terms
Open each subscription and look for the next billing date, the price of the coming period and its current status. For a trial or introductory offer, check when the ordinary price begins. If anything is unclear, ask the provider before the stated date.
An illustrative note might read: “Service A — monthly — next payment 12 October — managed through the app store.” Set your own reminder early enough to make a decision. A reminder is a useful habit; it does not guarantee that a payment already in progress can be stopped.
Cancel through the original provider
On an iPhone, start in Settings, tap your name, open Subscriptions and select the service to cancel. In Google Play, open subscriptions under the correct account, choose the service and complete the cancellation steps. Interface wording may vary.
For direct billing, use the service’s account page. Yandex Plus, for example, can be managed through its own account area, while an App Store purchase is cancelled through Apple. Google explicitly states that uninstalling an app does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
Verify the result
Complete the confirmation steps and reopen the subscription details. Look for a clear cancellation status or an access end date. Keep the confirmation email or a screenshot showing the date without sharing payment details publicly.
Stopping a future renewal and requesting a refund for an earlier payment are separate actions. Do not assume a refund is automatic: check the billing provider’s conditions. If you are charged again, contact support with the confirmation and transaction details.
- Identify the billing provider and account.
- Record the next payment date.
- Cancel renewal and check the final status.
